We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

I am 21 years old, in college and $9,000+ in debt.  I also just took out another $7,000 loan to try and finish my education, even though I have a part-time job working 20+ hours a week.  I’m not even sure if I can get this loan because my parents don’t make enough money to help co-sign on it.  (How does that work out?!)  I am also scared that I won’t be able to secure a job, even though I speak two languages and have the experience.  I’m considering to moving to France to finish my education since my school seems to grow tighter and tighter on funding and help these days.

Because I still don’t have enough money for basic needs, I don’t eat some days and have often considered if my education is worth the toll it has taken on my health.  Last year I ended up in the E.R. 6 times, and because of the constant stress over money and education I have developed insomnia.

On top of it all, this week I have found out that my old housing company is trying to squeeze money out of me for deciding to change the carpet.  I pray to God every day for something to change, but he doesn’t seem to be listening.

I am lucky to have family that loves and supports me with everything they can, but my parents have almost lost everything they worked their entire lives for over the past couple of years.

TO CONGRESS:  I am anything but lazy!  I work my ass off just to survive and try to better myself with getting an education!  Why is education cut first when people are making millions of dollars by acting stupid on t.v. shows and playing on game shows?  Maybe I should make an ass out of myself too… These are the things that have given America a bad reputation that YOU allow.

“God helps those who help themselves."  VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
