I am lucky.
I worked in the auto industry as a mechanical designer for almost 20 years. During the downturn of 2008 I was unable to find work but I had an opportunity to go back to school for 2 years to change careers. I got an associate’s degree in computer science with a 3.7 GPA. Now I am making $10 an hour (half of what I made 15 years ago) installing computers for a contractor at a large company. It is not a real living wage, but I like my job, and I have minimal health insurance. I work hard, have good credit, and pay my bills. I have good mechanical skills so I am able to keep my aging car running. I live check to check. I am doing OK and just getting by; but I am worried about future prospects. I am no longer middle class.

We are not represented as we should be, by a government BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE. 99%
