I am a 26 year old college student with $20,000+ debt in loans and $40,000+ in other debt. I live in my boyfriend’s father’s garage with my boyfriend and our 9 month old son. We want to get married but are afraid if one of us gets a job we will lose...

I am a 26 year old college student with $20,000+ debt in loans and $40,000+ in other debt. I live in my boyfriend’s father’s garage with my boyfriend and our 9 month old son. We want to get married but are afraid if one of us gets a job we will lose our food stamps and our son’s MediCal. My boyfriend got “lucky” and is working under the table doing back-breaking construction. Over half of what he makes goes to the gas, toll and parking from his two hour commute one way, and he could lose the job at any time without warning. He is in pain everyday and only sees his son for a couple of hours a day before he has to sleep. Luckily, my sister has  a slightly older child, so we get hand-me-downs, otherwise my son wouldn’t have many clothes or toys. What kind of future can I offer him?

No medical. No dental.
