We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

I am 18 years old and a first-generation college student. Every time I look at my loan balance I feel an overwhelming sense of dread.

All I want to do in life is become a writer. But I can’t, because I need a steady income to pay off my debts after graduation, and a good career to survive in this country.

I can’t afford to have dreams.

I am the 99%.
