I am 18 y/o. I graduated high school from an alternative learning center. I chose to leave my local high school my Jr year because of the teachers and because I hated its “system”. I only went to the ALC 3 hours a day, yet I only graduated a month...

I am 18 y/o. I graduated high school from an alternative learning center. I chose to leave my local high school my Jr year because of the teachers and because I hated its “system”. I only went to the ALC 3 hours a day, yet I only graduated a month later then my friends and peers. I have had a job at a family owed restaurant for almost 3 years now. I make a decent amount of money for a kid my age which I am very grateful for. I will be starting school this January at a community college. I have qualified for the pell grant since both my parents have been laid off within the past 3 years. Luckily they both have jobs… for now. It was a little rough but our family made it. My heart goes out to all the others who are in those situations now. I am scared for my future and I feel like I will be wasting my time going to college. I just don’t see a future in any careers right now. Sadly, the American dream is a lie. But we can restore hope with these movements and protests. Solidarity!
