We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

I am a 19-year-old university student in England, studying English.

I consider myself LUCKY to be able to go into higher education to do what I love. I consider myself LUCKY to live somewhere with good healthcare. I feel PRIVILEGED to be able to afford university, as I know so many people who want to but can’t because they can’t afford it.

I am reasonably well off. I want to help. And so should everyone in my position.

We buy into this society with taxes - isn’t it fair we should get the same amount BACK from the government?

Are higher taxes for the rich and lower for the poor so hard to understand? Is affordable education for everyone so difficult a concept to grasp? Would the promise of a good shot at a decent-paying job be so much to ask?

What about human rights? Compassion?

WE HEAR YOU, USA. STAY STRONG.

I support the 99%.
