We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

“I stood at Dewey Square in Boston early this week during the police action against Occupy Boston.

I was there to defend our RIGHT to protest and dissent peacefully WITHOUT FEAR OF VIOLENCE. (luckily I was not arrested. unluckily, there was both fear of & incidence of violence).

I am lucky. I am privileged that I have the luxury of having my voice; that I am in a position where I can risk arrest without fear that it may somehow endanger myself or my family. As such, I have an obligation to USE THIS VOICE for those who are unable.

I wish you could see us. We are not anarchists (well, not all of us). We are not homeless. We are not out of towners. We are not hipsters. We are not only disaffected youth.

WE ARE YOU. YOUR friends, family, neighbors. We are the 99% who dream of a better life for all.”
