We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

I lost everything when I got laid off from my first job right out of college.  I couldn’t find another job or pay rent, so I had to move 2,000 miles back to my parents house.  There are no jobs for me here, in or out of my degree.  I’m lucky enough to work as a temp when I can, but I can go months between jobs.  I can’t pay my bills, and my student loans have gotten up to $90K with fees.  I’ve been in this situation for 3 ½ years, and I can’t seem to move forward at all.  I have a permanent, worsening disability, and I only still walk because I qualify for state health insurance.  It’s terrifying living this close to the edge.  I thought I made all the right choices, but I don’t know how I can keep going like this.  I don’t know what I’m gonna do.

We deserve to be treated like people, not whiners and burdens.  We want to work, we want to be able to support ourselves, but we can’t.  Not with the way things are.  This needs to change.

We are the 99 percent.
