We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

I am a twenty five year old single mother of a four year old son. i get no child support or alimony because the state can’t be bothered with my problems. After my son was born, I got into my dream school on a full scholarship, but less than a year later my funding was cut when they lost their endowment in the crash. I got straight A’s until they kicked me out for not paying. Now they won’t even let me transfer my credits. I donated my eggs to a reproductive clinic to pay my rent and bills. The procedure was painful and led to frightening complications that landed me in the hospital - now I have a huge bill as a result. My body will never be the same. Every time I try to apply for state assistance, which they say I am eligible for, some bureaucratic error takes place and I am forced to start the process again. It’s been three years, and I still don’t have health insurance for myself and my son, let alone other aid. I have a mountain of debt, medical problems, and anxieties. The IRS wants money I don’t have. My car was towed and I couldn’t afford to redeem it, so it was auctioned off. The cost of filing bankruptcy is 2,000 dollars which I will never have. I have no money to hire a lawyer so I can get a divorce from an abusive ex-husband. It seems like no matter how hard I try to make things better, the world is dead set against it. My country has betrayed me. I am the 99%.

Occupy Wall Street. Please. We all need you
