I am 25 yrs old and months away from a master’s degree. My bachelor’s is in literature/9-12 education. I dream of teaching writing, opening minds, and making the world a better place, but this is what I have to look forward to after December: 0 available teaching jobs 0 health insurance Relying on my parents who have my 7 & 5 yr old siblings to care for Well over $30K in student loan debt Working in retail part time (b/c full time hrs aren’t available) for $8/hr - if I’m lucky! … And I AM LUCKY! I am healthy, I have a car, I have a roof over my head, I can pay my bills and buy groceries— I AM SURVIVING! But barely. And who knows for how long.
