I am 38 years old. It will take me almost 30 years to pay off my student loans (in 2023). I am self-employed and I am used to no benefits or paid days off. I have insurance through my husband — I am lucky — but I’m too afraid to start a family. I know what it’s like to be poor and don’t want my child to live like that, too.
