We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

I have long standing health issues I can’t afford to treat, and a large sum of medical debt from times I’ve been forced to seek treatment. We live paycheck to paycheck and barely make ends meet by floating bills until we get a termination notice. We do not have a bank account, a retirement plan, savings, life insurance, health insurance, or college funds for our children. We have one car and do not have cable. The only “luxury” expenses we have are a home phone and internet. Yet we still struggle to get by. I was always told I could be whatever I wanted when I grew up. I didn’t know perusing that dream would lead me to financial ruin before my real life even got started. Today I make sure my kids know they have to work extra hard to earn scholarships because I can’t afford to send them to school and student loans will bury them in debt.
