We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

We are 26 yrs old and we are a few of the lucky ones. I have worked at the same hospital for 3+ yrs (24hrs a week @ 13 dollars an hr) after taxes my paycheck is 400 dollars for two weeks. I have been bagging, full time for 3+years now with no results. I have sent 99+ applications out with 1 interview and zero call backs. My husband works 60+ hrs a week with two days a week off, I hardly get to see him as it is.
We got married two years ago in Las Vegas for 120 dollars because we couldn’t afford the 500 dollars Colorado wanted. We’ve been trying to buy a house for 4+ yrs with perfect credit (740) and have been denied because we don’t have 20% for a down payment which averagely is 20,000 dollars. Who in this world has that kind of money saved up? The 1% that’s who.
We rent in a poor neighborhood because to rent a condo here cost the same as mortgage on a 2 bedroom house. We lease a car because we were denied a loan to buy a car two years ago. My mother in law has been fired from the last 5 jobs she’s had and asks us for money every other month. We help her when we can but we know it’s a temporary solution for our nations permanent problem.
We want children but feel it’s our responsibility to make sure we can financially support a family in a home. We crave education so badly but can’t get approved for loans and grants because we make too much or too little. We need to change, its the only hope my husband and I have.
We are constantly laughed at when we introduce the idea of a resource based economy to friends, family and acquaintances. We need a new beginning a new start. A world where we can further our education without worrying about dollar signs. Where personal gain is not meant through money, instead we see improving ones self through education.
We are the lucky but we are still the 99% and we’re disappointed and depressed by the “American Dream”. Humans are meant for something more then this. See for yourself what a resource based economy is @ TheVenusProject.com. Occupy your local capitals, it’s the only hope we have to making them see we can’t be silenced. We Occupy in Denver and soon in Fort Collins.
