We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

I am a 55-year-old mother with a son in college on loans. Until he was born I had a “career in music” Since that industry changed, I’ve still made 4 albums with our own money and credit cards, and raised $ online to make a fifth. But the IRS calls what I do a “hobby loss”, meaning I have no intention of making money at what I do. They have audited us 4 years in a row. My husband is an established actor, but because his union took a terrible deal from rich producers, we are lucky if we can live on his pension (which younger actors may be denied) PLUS my part-time non-union Retail job PLUS the goodwill of friends. Our house is worth less than half of what it was in 2008, and you probably have more money in your wallet than my employer, or Chevron, or GE paid in income taxes last year.
