We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.

Got Bachelor’s Degree 3.5 GPA
Got Master’s Degree 3.7 GPA
I was also working on a teaching license when I came down with a chronic, incurable medical condition: Interstitial Cystitis.  I am now handicapped, can’t work, and was forced to leave my academic goals.
Doctors say there won’t be a cure in my lifetime—That means I may never be able to work 40 hours a week to support myself, nor go back to higher education for my Ph.D.
I moved in with my parents for help, then we found out my dad has cancer.  My mom takes care of two sick people by herself, medical bills are piling, and savings dwindling.

There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about my student loan debt and the pressure I feel to make a certain amount of money in this struggling economy.  I am one of the lucky ones because I am healthy, working, and have the support of my family and boyfriend.  I am the 99 percent.

I have severe General Anxiety Disorder, and major depression among other physical health problems. I’ve had doctors tell me I am at risk and should be seeing a doctor regularly. Because of my condition I can’t hold a job. I haven’t had medical insurance since I turned 19. I am now 21. My parents can barley afford to feed me, and if my dad (Who is about to retire) made even $50 less than he does now, I would be homeless and hungry. They can’t even afford to send me to a clinic when I am sick. The government has denied me assistance, and I can’t even get a loan to go to school.

I am one of the lucky ones..
I fought for my country, had friends die for this country.
I am grateful to not have student loans, but my fiance will have over 75k in student loans once it’s all said and done.
I am a Licensed Practical Nurse will no job prospects. I haven’t been employed in over a year.
Someone is always more qualified than me.
I couldn’t get a job as a waitress as I was over-qualified.
This is ridiculous and this needs to end now.
I am grateful for my position in life, but know in seconds it could all change.

I am a high school teacher.
I have a bachelor’s and a master’s degree.
I have been teaching for 6 years, and have only had one ½-step pay increase.
My student loan bills are my second highest bill.
I love paycheck to paycheck.
My best friend is an assistant manager with no degrees; I make less than him.

Instead of saving money for my wedding in February, I’m working at a restaurant busing tables for $8/hr to help my father pay off $23K in my student loans, plus medical bills.
I want to start a family someday, but the future looks dim.
I’m not even 20 years old yet and I already feel like debt will consume my whole life.

I could go on for days about my problems, but the fact of the matter is, I am discriminated against every day for being an average American. My sex, race, socioeconomic status, mental disabilities, and age shouldn’t matter, and should not make me less qualified for any job or college. I was promised the American Dream; I was promised freedom. If I don’t get it from the rich, selfish people in power, I will take it for myself. I was taught Americans fight for what they believe in. Well they better put their dukes up cause the generation that has “no motivation” is about to KICK some blue-blood ASS.WE ARE THE 99%
